Commitment to Privacy and Security

The Orbis Cascade Alliance is committed to protecting the privacy and security of all user data. We will never share the Personally Identifying Information of our website users with a third party.

Google Services

This website uses Google services in three ways:

  1. To search public documents in an Alliance-owned Shared Drive.
  2. To collect usage statistics through Google Analytics.
  3. To authenticate Editors and Revisors1 to WordPress.

Shared Drive

Document searches within the Advanced Search Page do not collect or use any data from users’ accounts or browsers. Users may voluntarily authenticate to Google to search directly within the WordPress Shared Drive.

Analytics

Every page of the Orbis Cascade Alliance website contains a tracking code from Google Analytics. The code records information about a user’s browser and computer, and it sets and reads cookies to obtain session information. The Alliance will not use Analytics or other statistical tools to collect Personally Identifying Information from site visitors. Users may install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On to prevent their data from being used by Google Analytics.

Authentication

Editors and Revisors authenticate to WordPress through Google OAuth and the open-source Google Apps Login plugin. The Alliance’s OAuth application will access only the minimum account information necessary for authentication, in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.
