Kim joined the Alliance as Executive Director in January 2020. Prior positions include: Director of Library Initiatives at the Big Ten Academic Alliance; Director of Collections Services & Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Springfield; Program Officer at the Triangle Research Libraries Network; and Associate Dean of Library Services at Illinois State University. Kim holds an MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois; a MM in Music from Appalachian State University; and a BME in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kim is the chief executive officer of the Alliance. She is responsible for the implementation of the policies, objectives, and overall financial and administrative management of the organization, including leading the nine-member central staff.
