Preparation
- Participants should ensure they have the Design Analytics role in Alma before they arrive. Please verify asap so you can get this role if you don’t have it yet.
- Become familiar with the content in the Navigating Alma Analytics document.

Scenario: Track unreceived periodical issues to aid in claiming subscriptions with multiple copies.
Description: This analysis gives a count of the number of items received per description field.
Key points: filtering based on another analysis, using the SUM(DISTINCT) function, adding a rolling date using SQL.

1:15-2:00 pm: Hands-On 2: Fulfillment example | Loans Over the Last Three Days (PDF)
Scenario: In order to show a need for more student employees, your Access Services manager wants you to display a graphical representation of how many materials they loaned over each of the last three days. She wants this to display on the main Alma screen and to always be updated with the latest information.
Description: This analysis focuses on obtaining loan totals for a shifting date range, that can be added as a graph to Alma.
Key points: rolling date feature with SQL, filter for in house use checkouts, graphical output, and dashboard widget.
Hands on portion: Participants will pick any measurement they want from an area, create a daily report of the measurement, and then add it as a widget to their Alma login.

2:10-2:55 pm: Hands-On 3: Subject area: Physical Items | Loans by Call Number Range (PDF)
Scenario: Your Subject Librarian that is responsible for collection development in the English Department, wants usage statics on a specific call number range.
Key points: Issues with exporting data with call number normalization. Developing dashboard solutions to provide a wider spectrum of data for multiple audiences. Distinguishing between usage by owning library versus where items were circulated.
Hands on portion: Participants will use the Physical Items subject area and build a Dashboard prompt for permanent call number range. Then add it to a dashboard. Trainer: Kevin Edwards (PCC)

3:10-3:55 pm: Hands-On 4: Subject Area: Acquisitions information | Automated Report on Gift Funds (PDF)
Scenario: Create a report on the expenditure status of gift funds to be delivered monthly via email to the appropriate fund managers.
Key points: Create email reports. Use mathematical formulae in reports, drill down into various transaction types. Use functions such as Trim to eliminate extraneous information.
Hands on: Participants will use the Funds Expenditure subject area to create a report on the balance of a fund and set it up to mail out monthly.
