Copyright First Responders Pacific Northwest

Overview

“Copyright First Responders Pacific Northwest is a community of librarians and library staff, archivists, museum staff, and other cultural institutional staff interested in copyright law and its impact on our work in these organizations. CFRs participate in intensive training and work together as a community of practice to bring common sense, practical copyright knowledge to the front lines of library service in libraries throughout the Pacific Northwest. CFRs help ensure routine copyright issues are addressed knowledgeably at the time of need while ensuring more complex, unusual, or higher risk questions are appropriately referred within their institutions.” Learn more and get involved.

Background

The Copyright First Responders program was established by Kyle Courtney, Copyright Advisor at Harvard University, in 2013. In 2018, Copyright First Responders Pacific Northwest began. The first cohort of CFRPNW was trained with funding from the Orbis Cascade Alliance, Reed College, University of Portland, Whitman College, and Western Oregon University. The Alliance continues to support Copyright First Responders training as a strategic initiative.
