Tubs for gathering bags and packages

Tubs are provided for use by the courier to move bulk, packaged materials through the Orbis Cascade Alliance courier program.  They are the most efficient way to move the materials between the library staging area and the courier vehicles, and on to the central sorting facility in Portland. Tubs are not distributed for general library use.tub

Approved use

At the main site only

Tubs will be used only at the dropsite, i.e. the main site.  To maintain an adequate supply for moving materials, tubs should NOT be used for sending materials to branch libraries or to other "participating" libraries.

Materials

Use only for shipping individual library loans to other members, in approved packaging. The courier service is not used for shipping equipment, supplies, library collections, etc. 

Weight limit: maximum 30 pounds.

Backstock

Because limited numbers of tubs were ordered, based on usage - and usage has not increased, there should be enough to ensure adequate supplies at each site.  At no time should ANY Dropsite have more than 15 tubs on hand.  Please feel free to contact the Courier Program Manager when you have a need for more than 15 tubs in your unused stock.  This also can waste valuable storage real estate at the Dropsite.

Should you gather more tubs than you need, please send the extras with your driver the next time they take your materials.  Extra tubs should be returned to the Senvoy central sorting facility for distribution to others who may need them.

Need another tub?

You will always have tubs available from previous day's shipment. If you have more than usual and it won't fit in the tub(s) on hand ...
  • If you know in advance, send an email to the vendor (use the online form, select problem type "other" from drop-down list) and request an extra tub(s). If the message reaches them in time, they may be able to put an extra tub with the delivery for next day
  • Put the bags or packages into a box, no larger than a tub
  • Last resort: put the packages onto a book truck, pickup table, or other place where the courier is used to finding the outgoing materials
