Lingo

Navigator = OCLC WorldCat with VDX and Circulation Gateway bells & whistles, i.e. the new software behind Summit and Summit Borrowing.

NCIP = a protocol that allows systems to exchange circulation information and conduct transactions.  http://openncip.org/

NRE= Navigator Request Engine.  See VDX & Circ Gateway.

Group catalog = OCLC WorldCat view showing Alliance member libraries first. Replaces the INN-Reach "union catalog" called Summit.

VDX & Circ gateway = Virtual Document Exchange, and software linking OCLC VDX with the local library circ system. Replaces INN-Reach circ software used for Summit Borrowing. The "new" name for VDX is NRE.

SRU = Search and Retrieve via URL. A technology to get information. Website with more information about SRU and SRW. What Tech folks say about SRU (and the rest of us think is fun to read):

SRW Without the SOAP Wrapper
Intended for Thin Clients
Adds ResponseSchema Parameter
