Shared ILS Update 2012 February 13Greetings from the Shared ILS Team,This is just a quick reminder that the product demonstrations part of the RFP are expected to be scheduled during the week of April 2-6, one vendor each day, with the number of sessions dependent on how many vendors are on our short list after written RFPs are scored in early March. Each day of the demonstrations, we'll see the products from one vendor, following a set schedule:
If you can't make these times, that's no problem because vendors will provide a recording of each session. Demos will be "scripted," meaning that vendors will be required to show us how their system works through scenarios developed by working groups of the Shared ILS Team. If you have any suggestions for what you would like to see in these demos, please feel free to drop a note to the appropriate working group leader: Bill Jordan for Systems, Ann Miller for Collections & resource management, description and metadata, Dena Hutto for Discovery, and Bill Kelm for Circulation and resource sharing. We’ll read and consider all suggestions and include what we can in the demos. We need to remind you that we don’t have a lot of time for each demo’s sub-section, so we will include all suggestions that we can given the time constraints. Please have your suggestions to us by Monday, February 20th. If that is a holiday for you, feel free to get us comments by Feb 17 or early Feb 21 (sooner the better!). Following the April 2-6 product demos, staff and member institutions will be encouraged to send their comments via a Web form to the Shared ILS Team by April 13. Will we have other opportunities to see systems in action? Yes, almost certainly. Further demonstrations might be included as part of negotiation and, once a product is selected, the eventual contract will probably include "acceptability tests" and other chances to see systems in action. You can always keep track of this project via the RFP Web page, which includes links to an FAQ and Calendar. Thank you and please always feel free to contact your member rep or any SILS Team member.
