Shipping containers for media

Purpose, description, and use

Protect media items from damage during shipping.

Alliance distributes special containers for shipping non-book materials, sized specially for videotapes, audiocassettes, and compact disks. The corrugated cardboard boxes have an Alliance (or Summit) identifying label. Items are placed in the shipping container, and the container goes into the courier bag with books.

Details

Always use a shipping box!

Don’t send a video, CD, DVD, audio cassette, microfilm without putting it in a shipping box.

Remove the item from the shipping container before loaning to the patron. The container will be available for returning the item to the owning library.

Secure boxes with rubber bands and not tape - please!

Packaging Microfilm: The DVD boxes can be adapted and used to package microfilm. Fold the box as tightly as possible around the microfilm and secure the box with a rubberband.
