Record Matching in WorldCat

Information supplied by OCLC:

OCLC merges OCLC numbers into a master record. The system searches the 001, 019 fields (up to the first three), and any 776 fields that reference the print item.

Based on the matching routine, it is possible to see an OCLC# in WorldCat that does not match the 001 field OCLC# in the local system.
