Paging slips

Purpose, description, and use

top half

- shows staff where to get the requested item (location and call number). For details about paging items in the library, see  Materials processing-Basic procedures.

bottom half

- shows staff where to send the item (the borrowing site); how to mark the bookband/label and which courier label to use for the courier bag
- may be used to notify the patron that the material is available, and where to pick up the item.

Details

The "courier stop" field is used to print information on the bottom half of the paging sip; it prints just below the Institution name line. Courier stop is used to distinguish between multiple courier stops for the same institution. For institutions with only one courier stop, the field doesn't have a use, so it can be blank.

Sending the paging slip in the item

Owning site: Insert the paging slip into the item. Fold it in half with the print side out, bottom half "up" so that patron information and destination site is visible without unfolding.

Supply

Design: Part of III software. The design is controlled by III.

Printing: Printed regularly at every Alliance member institution. Consortium-adopted agreement: print at least once daily.
