Check availability for this item.	Clicking on Check availability ... sends message to Registry (a list of Summit member institutions, with link to the Resolver), then consults the institution's info in the Resolver ("Item Availability Service") to display data received from a real-time check in the local ILS. Info in Resolver is obtained from set-up questionnaire sent by OCLC to each member.  It displays text for each item based on responses for how to identify serials, multi-part materials, etc.  In other words, it translates what it found on local catalog to something to display on WorldCat. Requesting

Patron validation	Check patron credentials against data at local site (except OSU). Local EZProxy talks to Master EZProxy at OCLC, which creates user profile to send data to NRE or ILLiad.	Local (or Alliance) and OCLC (EZProxy)
Request form	<Submit> action sends data to NRE for processing.	OCLC (ZPortal)
Navigator Request Engine (NRE)	NRE sends an NCIP message to Circulation Gateway (Circ Gateway) which triggers an action such as place holds or a checkin or checkout, copy request to local system, patron notices, etc.	OCLC

Print paging slips	Staff at owning (lending) site prints paging slips using local circulation (III Millennium or telnet). Slips are printed using the Alliance managed program developed by PSU staff.	III for problems printing in Millennium;  Alliance for paging slip formatting.
