Login for staff
Authentication service: choose "Summit" (do not use institution's individual service; using the institution's individual service may work for a while, but will cease to work in 2009)
Barcode: [not case-sensitive?]format is: XXX-1111111111 or xxx-aaaaaaaaa. Three-character institution prefix followed by hyphen and then additional characters. (limit to # of characters?) Note that the prefix is not a system requirement, but an Alliance policy, to prevent duplicate staff "barcodes" from different member institutions (such as betty and betty or tech and tech)
example: oru-stafflogin
Password: anything you like. It is case-sensitive.
Trouble-shooting problems with staff logins:
A. Are you logging in as Authentication Service "Summit" when you try to log in using your staff account?
B. Log into your main account, click on "user" and search for the staff account you created. Look at it and ask these questions:
- Is the "Location" of the staff user account your main processing location (i.e. OIT Library or UW Gallagher Circ Desk)
- Is the "Category" of the staff user account either "Summit Basic" or
"Summit Admin"? I think "Staff User" is also still working, but I'm not
sure if it's going to stick around, since they created "Summit Admin"
instead.
Hopefully one of the answers will be "no" and you can just make a small change to fix the problem.
C. If this is a new staff record, not behaving as you'd expect, wait several hours (or overnight) and try again.

Searching for patrons in database
use the percent sign as a wildcard. For example, %Horton will return all names with "Horton". Caution: the use of wildcard makes the search slower.
Patron name searches may be case sensitive; some institutions' patron names are in all uppercase while others have mixed case.
special cases:
- hyphenated names: watch out for spaces, and try removing such as:
brown- smith instead, key as: brown-smith
- other special cases, instructions:
