Green flag

Purpose, description, and use:

To identify an item being returned to a home library from another Alliance member and not checked in through Summit Borrowing.

Alliance member libraries have agreed to return materials to each other, regardless of where the item was borrowed and returned, and regardless of how the item was circulated (Summit Borrowing, ILL, Visiting Patron, or other means).

Why a special flag?

If a non-SB item is returned in an Alliance (Orbis or Cascade or Summit) courier bag, the home library would generally attempt to check it in as if it were a Summit (INN-Reach) transaction. The green flag will signal staff at the home library to process the item outside the Summit routines. For a PUA or other SB item with a Green Flag, it provides owning site staff the date the patron returned it.
