ILS Circulation System error on Illno <illno> for location <location code>, reason: CORBA::UserException: ServicesException    NRE either could not connect to the Circ Gateway or the connection to the Circ Gateway timed out.     Verify that the Bib and Item record was not created in ILS.    
**Bib and Item Record was NOT created** Solution: Perform the "Receive" action again   
**Bib and Item Record was created** Solution: Place hold if it was not placed. Request will remain in a status of "shipped" until the item is returned. OR  Manually remove the Bib and item record from the ILS and perform the "Receive" action again

Hold for rota item 0 by Local Bibliographic Record Id Unknown Control Number failed: Item is not known. Request was refused by the circ system.)    The Circ Gateway received an error from the ILS when placing an institutional hold    Verify that the  institutional hold was not created in ILS.    
** Hold was NOT placed** Solution: Now - open a TOPDesk incident with the Request ID's that you have verified that a hold was not placed.
In Development and will be available later - Perform "Resubmit for hold" action on request. This will allow NRE to pickup the request and try to place hold again.
**Hold was placed** Solution: Place hold manually and perform will supply action on request.

Request-Indication    Information    Handed over for Manual Processing due to error - Configuration error (No user id for the requester. )    NRE is missing the institutional barcode for the requester.  Ask Help Desk to verify NRE configuration. This is normally an configuration issue.    Help Desk will resubmit once the configuration has been corrected.

Request not found at your location with ILL number null and barcode 0000102747714

Apparently half the stack of items she was processing resulted in similar error messages. When I go into the record ... the barcode is correct and the action actually DID go through. Also, I can find the item by L/B number, but not by barcode – even though the barcode in the record matches the item I’m scanning.

The items have actually being actioned appropriately, in spite of the error message.  ... have to look up each request to see if it was processed correctly.
Solution used at EWU, Oct. 2009:
EWU has switched from using Internet Explorer (IE) to using Firefox to return and check in Summit materials in Batch, using barcodes. 
I am not aware of any problems here in “receiving” Summit items in IE (such as Johanna mentioned), so we continue to use IE, our default web browser, to receive and send.
Owner (Lender) receiving item from Borrower, try to Check In

Requests that staff "Received" recently; showing in our Staff Review queue. The status is "Shipped" but the authorization is "Check Error"

In "LOG MESSAGES" :

Possible problems: NRE didn't make bib & item record; or made a bib & item record and didn't place the or hold.  possible solutions:

No bib and item record created:
  • receive it again in NRE
No hold placed:
  • manually place a hold; the request will stay in the staff review queue
  • receive it again in NRE; a second bib & item record will be created in local system
  • delete bib&item record and receive again in NRE
Stuck in New Requests queue
  • Log message: Handed over for Manual Processing due to error - Circ system error (Other error (not specified). Setting the request to Check Error. Hold for rota item 0 by Local Bibliographic Record Id Unknown Control Number failed: Item is not known. Request was refused by the circ system.)  
[situation: multi-part work, book and CD-ROM.  Book is checked out to a different Alliance library; the CD-ROM is available.  There are no holds on the CD-ROM.]

  • Incoming requests seem to be getting stuck in the "New Requests" queue and also turning up in "Staff Review". None have generated holds on items. All items show as available in the catalog.
